United Front 101

The United Front Strategy

The central principle is to build the broadest possible unity to isolate the narrowest target. It follows from the understanding that we may not have full unity with every organization or individual we work with, but in order to strengthen our movement, we must find points around which to unite with people.

Core Points of United Front

  • We identify key bases of unity to move forward on so long as working with them does not require us to go against our principles.

  • All organizations and groups maintain their independent initiative and autonomy. We unite where we can, and agree to disagree where we can’t.

  • We recognizes that everything changes and we must constantly study the situation and adjust - while we may be friends today, we may not be tomorrow. Sometimes, people can come together on a specific strategic or tactical basis which may not be the case in a future campaign.

It is through the course of active struggle that higher levels of unity and organizational strength are achieved!

  • Through united front work, we can build and share analysis, strategy, and tactics.

  • This can lead to higher level coordination and sharing of core principles.

  • Before engaging in united front work the organization should be internally united and firm on its analysis & basis of unity.
