Ceasefire in Palestine is a Peoples' Victory! Continue the Fight Against US Imperialism and End Its Support for Israel!
The Fight for Palestine's Liberation Continues
The ILPS-US chapter celebrates with the Palestinian people and all peace-loving and liberation-minded people of the world the ceasefire agreement reached in Palestine. This is a victory that the Palestinian people themselves fought for with every fiber of their being in their historically steadfast will to remain on their land at any cost and against all the onslaughts of the genocidal Zionist regime. We know that the Zionists were forced into this ceasefire because they could not achieve any of their military or political objectives against the resistance. This is a people’s victory and a moment of heroism of an oppressed people unprecedented in the 21st century.
The fight is not over, as the settler colonial Zionist entity still remains in power, thousands of Palestinians remain imprisoned, all of Gaza remains displaced with hundreds of thousands cold and starving, disease stricken, injured with many suffering amputations, and possibly over 200,000 dead. The Zionists have broken every ceasefire they have ever signed, including violations every day in Lebanon since their ceasefire was signed. The genocidal regime will regather itself and renew its plans to establish dominance across the region, as it seeks to build the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor, which could lead to an open war against Iran.
Despite pouring in billions of dollars of military aid to Israel over the past 450+ days and having vetoed the November UN resolution for ceasefire (and many other widely supported Security Council resolutions on Palestine including their membership to the UN), the US has tried to play the hero with the current ceasefire. Biden claimed that it was the US that was able to broker the ceasefire by pressuring Netanyahu, and has claimed victory for the Democrats as has always happened with past sham peace deals that have favored and shielded the Zionists such as the 1993 Oslo Accords and the 1979 and 2000 Camp David Summits under Carter and Clinton. Meanwhile, Trump posted on his social media that he brought about the deal as he prepares for his Presidential inauguration this coming Monday. Both of these claims amount to shameless attempts to prop up either of the imperialist political parties against each other.
Since the deal is meant to come into play on January 19th, the day before Trump’s inauguration, it’s probable that Trump will take full credit if things move in favor of the Zionists, while the Democrats will most likely blame the Republicans and wash their hands of all blame if things do not go as planned. The people of the US must be ready to continuously expose both the Biden administration’s complete aiding and abetting of the genocide since the beginning, as well as the Trump administration’s further actions of keeping the genocidal occupation alive by whatever tactics it chooses. Trump’s mere support of the existence of Israel contradicts his claim of wanting “peace in the Middle East.” Trump’s cabinet picks are rabidly anti-Palestinian and must be exposed as a threat to humankind: Secretary of State nominee Marco Rubio has called Hamas “savages,” US Ambassador to Israel nominee Mike Huckabee has described the Palestinian resistance as worse than Nazis, and Secretary of Defense nominee Pete Hegseth has called the Nakba genocide of 1948 a “miracle.” From Biden to Trump and beyond, we must be steadfast in maintaining unconditional solidarity with the Palestinian people and to end the US’ support for the Zionist entity.
The US and the Zionists blocked every peace deal, blaming the Palestinian resistance for being the obstacle to a deal. In reality, Netanyahu pushed back against every agreement in his existential mission to keep the genocidal war in motion so as to stay in power and avoid the mass opposition to his rule. Even after the ceasefire announcement, Netanyahu delayed a vote on it within the Zionist state on the false claims that the resistance was creating roadblocks. On the contrary, the resistance put out public statements at every turn in support of a ceasefire agreement that would have led to the release of Palestinian prisoners and Israeli hostages, the permanent withdrawal of Zionist troops from Gaza, and a future Palestinian state regardless of the form it takes. It is clear that the US-Zionist camp was always the obstacle to a deal, since the just demands of the Palestinian resistance would put “Israel’s” very parasitic existence at risk.
Zionism is in its downfall, as is its primary funder - US imperialism. The Zionist state has lost all credibility as the only liberal “democracy” in West Asia, a false claim it has hidden behind since its inception. It said that it would cripple the resistance and destroy its ability to govern Gaza, and yet all of the Palestinian resistance factions have refilled all of their lost ranks, proving that the people themselves see the resistance as their only path towards self-determination. Thousands have fled the settler colonial entity to live abroad, more than at any time in past decades, and the Zionist economy has tanked as hundreds of businesses have been forced to close. The cases in the International Criminal Court and International Court of Justice are still open against the state and Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Gallant for their war crimes. In truth, Zionism is more politically, diplomatically, economically, and militarily weak and isolated than it ever has been, with only US imperialism as its source of life support.
US imperialism is also in its downfall. Inflation is at a record high, employment is more precarious for the working masses of the country than ever since the start of the new millennium, more and more communities in the US are being ravaged by climate change-driven fires and storms, and the US finds itself with opponents in every corner of the globe who are sick and enraged with living under the boot of a global imperialist superpower. This ceasefire is a sign of this downfall, as the US can no longer weather the unrelenting power that is growing from the peoples’ struggle in the US, in Palestine, and all around the world in the way it has tried to in the past.
The US and the Zionists are more cornered and desperate than ever before, and cornered beasts will strike out in their most violent ways. Let us be vigilant and committed to keep up the struggle against US imperialism, Zionist genocide and colonialism, and all other forms of reaction as the neo-fascist Trump regime takes to the White House in US imperialism’s desperate attempt to make itself “great again.” The people of Palestine have reminded the world through their unbelievable sacrifice that the people united will truly never be defeated!
